Australia’s barramundi have received international acclaim as one of the world’s top sport and game fish. It is also a culinary delight. Barramundi are related to perch and are predators. It is deep-bodied with a large mouth and strong tail. They can grow to about 45 kg and are brownish grey on the upper body with silver below. Barramundi or “barra” are found in the estuaries, tidal reaches and
lower freshwater reaches of tropical north Queensland.
