DIDJERIROO

$55.00

The didjeriroo is a traditional Aboriginal musical instrument which is made from hollowing out a tree trunk. They were often found naturally hollowed out by ants. The player blows into it with a circular breathing technique and makes animal sounds to accompany the corroboree in group dancing. The dances tell a story. Didjeriroos often have paintings on them and this one has a uniquely Australian animal, the kangaroo or roo painted on it. Hence the play on words in the painting title – didjeriroo. This black and white painting has strong patterning in the background.
