Description
Grandad had many well-worn tracks in the Wondecla area where we lived and we would follow them too. We didn’t have electricity or phones, running water or a car. We used kerosene lamps, and water from Grandad’s well or the tank he used to catch rain water. We washed in the creek or in a large basin and Mum cooked on the old wood stove or the outside campfire. I remember her washboard and velvet soap as she hand-washed our clothes. We walked many miles to school each day and Dad walked many miles to work.
