Description
The rainforest is an icon of our region and I love to visit a village in the rainforest – Kuranda. In the middle is the road to Kuranda, the gondolas of the skyrail on the left and the train tracks on the right. The skyrail rainforest cableway takes you from Smithfield near Cairns to Kuranda deep into the rainforest over its world heritage listed canopy. As you glide just above the rainforest, you can hear
the rainforest sounds and see its beauty.
Kuranda is a picturesque village and you can also reach it by road or by the Kuranda Heritage Train. The train route winds along the Kuranda Range and takes in the breath-taking scenery of The Barron Falls. Kuranda Village is well-known for arts and crafts including Indigenous artefacts and the
Butterfly Sanctuary, Koala Gardens, Rainforestation Nature Park, Birdworld and the Aviary.
